About Us

2003

The birth of Luka in February 2003 led directly to the birth of Snazzipants. Until then I was a perfectly normal teacher going on maternity leave to have her first baby. I was not the cloth zealot that you have met here today.

While I was determined to use cloth nappies for budget reasons, I soon found the choices in New Zealand to be very limited (in a leaky kind of way!)

I began what was to become a frustrating and expensive search through the internet to see what was available overseas. While there were many gorgeous options, not all were equally functional. What's a girl to do in this tricky situation? Turn to her mum of course! Especially when mum is a seasoned business woman, who had sold her freight company after 11 years vowing never to work again. The thrill of the perfect nappy chase was too much for her resolve, and hence Snazzipants was born.

For us it was the perfect solution. A chance to design our own great nappies, working together on a business that we believe is doing good for the earth, as well as for babies, and giving Luka a leading role in our company. Who else could be so effective as quality control officer?

The health and environmental information I unearthed in the search for great nappies totally convinced me that my new role was to spread the word and convert the world to cloth!

We hope you love Snazzipants as much as we do.

Pippa Jinks, and her mum, Maria.

2007

And look where we are now! Here we are in our expanded home office, with our second quality control officer, Pearl. Our dedicated reusable nappy shop opened in 2007 as we just couldn't keep up with demand. Our Milford shop now stocks all the major nappy brands you can find in NZ. Reusable nappies in New Zealand have come a long way since our early days, and it is great to see so much more interest and availablity. Thanks to all the fabulous customers and friends of Snazzipants who have supported us along the way.
