Snazzipants - Sizing

Sizing

Every baby is different, and growing at a tremendous rate, so sizing can be difficult. While our nappies will often fit a newborn, check out our recommendations under FAQ.

Be aware that if you buy a size too large for your baby to 'grow into' it will be bulky, and you may well get the dreaded leaks because your covers won't fit right!

Prefolds

We stock two sizes of prefolds.

Small prefolds are 12" x 16" and have 6 layers through the centre and 4 on the edges (4 x 6 x 4). These are great for new babies for the first 6 or more months, and fit nicely in a small Bummis super whisper wrap. Regular prefolds are too bulky on a new baby, so the small size is definitely worth purchasing. They can be used to boost other nappies as your baby grows.

Regular prefolds are 14.5" x 21' and are also 4 x 6 x 4. These fit from around 6 to 8 months on till toilet training. They fit in a medium and a large Bummis super whisper wrap.

Both small and regular prefolds are also available in organic cotton, and the organics have an extra two layers through the centre panel (4 x 8 x 4) so are great for heavy wetters.

Fitted Nappies

Size 1 Snazzipants fitted nappies fit from 3.5kg to around 10kg or more. How long your baby wears them will depend on their build. I have heard of a two and a half year old who still fits size 1! Before your baby crawls it may look like the size 1 is getting snug, but as they begin to move most babies thin out a lot.

If you are choosing a Bummis super whisper wrap cover over a fitted nappy you will need to size the wrap up. The medium Bummis wrap will fit over a size 1 fitted nappy on a small baby. Whisper pants are probably the easiest cover to get as the sizing is a lot more flexible than a wrap. Just choose the Whisper pant size to fit from the covers section below, and they will cover any fitted nappy easily.

Size 2 Snazzipants fitted nappies fit babies over 10kg until they are toilet trained. A large Bummis wrap will fit over a size 2 fitted nappy, and all the Whisper pants fit - just find the right size for your baby.

Covers

Bummis Super Whisper Wraps, Super Snap, Whisper Pants and Cotton Whisper Pants are available in:

NEWBORN: 3-5 kg (7-10 lbs)

SMALL: 4-7 kg (8.5-15 lbs)

MEDIUM: 7-14 kg (15-30 lbs)

LARGE: 14-18 kg (30-40 lbs)

Remember, if you are using the Super Whisper Wrap over a fitted nappy it is often best to size up (size 1 fitted with medium wrap, size 2 fitted nappy with a large wrap). The Whisper Pants however, run large. They don't need to be upsized to fit over a fitted nappy as they are a roomier style. If in doubt with the Whisper pants choose the smaller of the sizes.

If a larger sizes is required, they are available by special request. While we do carry newborn covers, we have found that the small covers that fit from 3.5kg - 7kg are a much better buy for most NZ babies - especially if you plan on using disposables for the first couple of weeks. You will be amazed how quickly they grow! Newborn size is great for small or premmie babies.

Bummis Super Brite

Newborn: 2-4 kg (4-9 lbs)

Small: 3.5-7 kg (8-16 lbs)

Medium: 7-14 kg (15-30 lbs)

Large: 12-16 kg (27-36 lbs)

Bummis Polar

Small: 3-6kg

Medium: 6-9.5kg

Large: 9.5-14.5

Extra Large: 14.5+

The weight breaks above are recommended by Bummis, but the sizing looks more similar to the Super Whisper Wraps to me, so if in doubt I'd say downsize!

Newborn: birth to around 6kg -use over small or newborn prefolds (Please let me know when your baby outgrows it to help keep our sizing chart accurate.)

Size 1: 4.5/5kg - 10kg over size 1 fitted nappies or prefolds

Size 2: 10kg+ over over size 2 fitted nappies or prefolds

Totsbots Fleece Covers come in three sizes:

Size 0: birth - 6kg

Size 1: 5-10kg

Size 2: 10-18kg

Pocket Nappies

Medium: 6.8 - 13.5kg

Large: 11.5 - 20kg

Happy Heiny's come in three sizes:

Small: 3.5-7kg Waist 28-35 cm

Medium: 6.5-11kg Waist 35 – 53 cm

Large: 10.5-16kg Waist 43 – 63.5cm

They are available in premmie size, XL and XXL on request. These pockets are generously sized so don't be tempted to upsize!! If it is too big - it'll leak!
